Suren Abeywickrema is Vice President and Country Head, Nigeria at ARISE Integrated Industrial Platforms (IIP); a leading Pan-African developer and operator of sustainable Special Economic Zones (SEZ) & Integrated Industrial Ecosystems, including holistic raw material, logistics, operations & maintenance, and processing & distribution services. These include AVC, timber, livestock & metals; ICD, storage solutions, rail, ports & airports; land lease; power generation, water, estate management & natural gas; and agro-processing, textile & proteins.
Suren’s seasoned, vast and versatile portfolio encompasses 33+ years of Management experience, including 25 years at Director and CEO levels, from emerging markets in Africa, South & East Asia, Papua New Guinea (PNG), Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Sri Lanka and more.
His extensive professional footprint spans diverse industries ranging from FMCG, Shipping, and Construction, to Manufacturing, Agriculture, Industrial & Special Economic Zones, and Retail. With his quick wit and innate business acumen, he began his journey of tangible impact and visionary leadership in brand management and quickly rose to become one of the youngest CEOs in PNG at the age of 30.
Backed by his consistent delivery of exceptional results, Suren went on to serve in the capacities of CEO, Managing Director, and Director at leading multinational organisations including Reckitt Benckiser, Phoenix Industries (Brandix Group), WR Carpenters Vanuatu & Solomon Islands (MBF Holdings), Al Ghurair Group, Maga Engineering (Pvt) Ltd., to name a few.
As part of his key achievements as Sales Director at Reckitt Benckiser Lanka Limited, he was instrumental in converting the business to a cash model as well as achieving a negative six working capital mark and was part of the team that grew the company to number one in the region within three years.
He has also held prestigious board positions at recognised companies such as McLarens Holdings, McShaw Automotive Ltd, and WR Carpenters, among others.
His academic background is equally as remarkable. He is a Management Accountant member of ICMA -Australia (The Certified Management Accountants), and holds a Master of Business Administration degree in International Business from Edith Cowan University, Australia; as well as a Postgraduate degree in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) UK; amongst others.
In the area of diplomacy, Suren has been the Honorary Consul for the Republic of Vanuatu for Sri Lanka since 2017; strengthening the relationship between the two countries; and promoting trade, tourism & investment opportunities.
Programme Overview
There are four stages in the ICMA Graduate Management Accountant programme, with four subjects in each stage. Stage Four of the graduate management program which has multiple – graduate, professional and postgraduate entry points is considered as the Graduate Conversion Programme. Candidates will be required to complete up to four subjects in different combinations depending on their respective entry qualifications.

- Financial Management – Financial mathematics, instruments, project evaluations and valuation
