The Institute of Certified Management Accountants (Australia) was incorporated in 1996 under the patronage of Mr William Dix (former Chairman of Ford and Qantas) and Professor John Miller (former Director of Consumer Affairs, Chairman of Pannell, Kerr, Foster and holder of numerous senior academic positions). Its objectives are to provide a professional organization for management accountants, and to encourage, disseminate and promote the specialisation in organizations in Australia and overseas. The ICMA is accredited by the Commonwealth of Nations under the category of Civic Organisations.
CMA Australia Qualification was introduced to Sri Lanka by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka in 1999.
The Academy of Finance has been appointed as the exclusive partner in Sri Lanka since 2006.
Membership of the CMA
Management Accountants are seen as the “value-creators” amongst the accountants. Being a CMA means a commitment to a continuous professional development, and the Institute offers seminars, training and other development activities to assist members achieve this objective. For the industry and employer perspective, the Management Accounting 2020 program offers industry-based certification for best practice in decision information and control systems. The use of internationally recognised post-nominals, especially the highly sought-after CMA professional credentials.
Where we are
The Institute of Certified Management Accountants has opened Regional Offices in a number of States in Australia and in other overseas countries and will continue to expand its presence in the future. These Regional Offices along with ICMA Branches and Centres will be responsible for the marketing and administration of the CMA Program; Certificates of Proficiency and the Emerging Professional Scholarship Scheme.
ICMA Branches and Centres will be responsible for developing Special Interest Groups and Cells for further development and advancement of the profession. Currently, the Institute has Regional Offices, Branches and Centres in all the States and Countries listed below. Members wishing to be involved in professional activities are requested to please contact the Regional Office in your area or the ICMA Secretariat to register your interest.

ICMA (Australia), Regional Office manages the Membership and Student related matters in Sri Lanka.
Academy of Finance is a Boutique Educational Institute having partnerships with Global Professional Bodies focusing in Accounting and Finance catering to the exclusive segment of professionals.
The Academy of finance is the exclusive partner for all ICMA (Australia) Programmes in Sri Lanka.
ICMA complete education programme comprises of sixteen subjects structured in to four stages followed by two additional subjects structured in the form of a workshop.
Final stage of the education programme, open to University Graduates and Qualified Professionals, forms the Graduate Conversion Programme.
CMA qualifying workshop comprises of the last two subjects is delivered in the form of a Seven Day Programme. This is compulsory for those who are seeking Certified Management Accountant (Australia) Membership.
CGBA Programme comprise of one subject delivered in the form of a Four Day Programme and is compulsory for those who are seeking Certified Global Business Analyst (Australia) Membership.

Certificate in Accounting from a recognised Technical College (TAFE) or Stage 1 of a Professional Qualification in Accounting or completion of Stage 1 of the ICMA’s Graduate program (NOTE: CAT membership requires the successful completion of the CAT education requirements. There are no experience requirements).
Diploma in Accounting from a recognised Technical College (TAFE) or 2 Stages of a Professional Qualification in Accounting or completion of Stages 1 & 2 of the ICMA’s Graduate program. (NOTE: RCA membership requires the successful completion of the RCA education requirements. There are no experience requirements).
Degree (Bachelors) in any discipline other than Accounting from a recognised University, or an Advanced Diploma in Accounting from a recognised Technical College (TAFE) or 3 Stages of a Professional Qualification in Accounting or completion of Stages 1,2 & 3 of the ICMA’s Graduate program. (NOTE: RBA membership requires the successful completion of the RBA education requirements. There are no experience requirements.
